Don't make this mistake in cold weather

If you are like me you will have also noticed the weather

has been uncomfortably cold at times recently.

I have especially noticed a chill at 5:30 AM on my bike rides.

This brings me to the potential problem

of possibly not looking after ourselves so well in cold weather in Brisbane.

On Friday a client asked me,

"Could my feeling cold this morning have added to my pain?"

She was interested to hear me describe that this is possible.

We often hold different postures when we are feeling too cold.

These postures can add tension to our muscles and joints.

This tension can create small amounts of strain in our bodies

and this strain can build up over time.

We usually aren't aware of the accumulation of strain.

It typically happens subconsciously.

The time we become aware is when we do something innocuous,

like bending over to put on shoes,

and suddenly we suffer severe pain.

This is an example of the 'last straw that broke the camels back'.

In short,

one extra way to prevent the build-up of strain in our muscles

I recommend we all rug up warm enough to avoid strained postures

throughout this chilly winter.

And rest assured that the Youngify team is here for you

if any 'last straws' cause you problems that need to be fixed. :)
