Have you ever paused for a moment and wondered what our aches and pains are really trying to tell us?
Sarah is a friend of a Youngify client, they both have a passion for hiking.
Sarah's nagging knee pain started developing during one of their Sunday morning Mt. Coottha hikes.
Convinced that something was wrong with her knee, she sought help from her doctor and her local physiotherapist, tried different pain medications, and even considered giving up her beloved hikes.
What if I told you that Sarah's pain was not just about her knee?
There’s more to it.
You see, for years we’ve been told to believe that pain is a direct signal that there’s something wrong where it hurts.
But that’s not the full picture.
Here’s the twist.
Neuroscience–which can be thought of as the software of the nervous system–reveals something astonishing.
Pain is more like a side effect.
It’s our body's way of protecting itself.
I hear you asking, “But why would my body protect itself from pain? That doesn’t seem friendly at all!”
Let me put it this way. Imagine you’re driving and your car engine warning light comes on.
What would you think? Something is wrong somewhere in the engine, right?
But, it doesn't tell you what or where the problem is.
Our bodies are similar in this way, pain is like the warning light to tell us it's protecting something.
But, it doesn't necessarily tell us what that something is.
Now back to our friend Sarah.
Her knee pain was her body’s way of saying, “Hey, I’m trying to protect you!”
But from what?
As it turns out, excessive strain to a muscle in the shoulder was causing her body to compensate and protect.
Sarah's posture combined with her backpack while hiking was the last straw that placed an excessive strain on her shoulder.
In Sarah's case, the response happened to be knee pain!
And the knee pain stopped the hiking, which stopped that aggravation to the shoulder muscle.
Ah, I can feel the light bulbs going on!
So, Sarah's journey took a turn.
Instead of focusing on the knee, she learned from an insightful, thoughtful practitioner 😉 that her body was in protection mode.
The result?
Sarah appreciated seeing immediate improvements in her knee strength and felt pain relief in each appointment.
Sarah returned to her hikes–pain-free 13 days after starting at Youngify.
I ask, is it worth finding out where the problem really is?
You might be aware that our problem-solving process is to take this approach for every client.
We see everybody's messages, and we help decipher them.
Our methods might challenge conventional wisdom, but isn't that how breakthroughs happen?
We are not alone in this.
Our pains have a voice, and it’s time we really listened.
Be thoughtful, and discover what our bodies are trying to tell us.
Embrace the possibilities of a life with less pain, more understanding, and potential.
We're here for you when you are ready for more help.
P.S. For those who have shared stories of their pains and triumphs, thank you. You are the heart of our community. Let’s keep the conversation going. Share this with someone who needs to hear it.
